Singing is a blast! Hear a chord ring. Make some new friends. Come and find out what gets us out of the house on Monday nights!
Photo above is from a recent Guest Night, when a group of interested singers visited a Pacific Coast Harmony rehearsal. However, all rehearsals are open to guests.
When you visit a rehearsal, you are given a voice placement test to determine which part you are most suited to sing - Tenor, Lead, Baritone, or Bass (sections listed from high to low voices.) This is an easy process - just sing a song you know, like "My Country 'Tis of Thee", "Happy Birthday", "My Bonnie..." or something else.
If you indicate you are interested in becoming a member, you are given access to all the PDFs of our music and learning tracks for each song. These professionally-created audio tracks help singers learn our music, and have your part in the left speaker and the other three parts on the right. This way as your learning progresses, you can refine your skills by singing in a virtual quartet - it's fun!
Prospective members need to attend rehearsals faithfully and learn the words and music to at least one song for their audition, usually one of our contest songs.
Once you feel ready to sing without the music (we call this being "off paper"), you can practice with the section leaders in a quartet made up of the other three parts and you on your part. This is to provide the best chance to get feedback to prepare you for your audition. You can practice as many times as you want.
After you are confident, you audition as part of a quartet with the section leaders. This must be done within 8 weeks, and you will have a couple of chances to audition.
Membership includes being a member of our chapter, the Far Western District and the Barbershop Harmony Society.
